Privacy Policy

The short version

The app does not send us your files, or anything about them. Not filenames, not folder names, not models, not what you search for. The only thing Command3D ever transmits is your licence key and an anonymous fingerprint of your computer, so we can check the licence is valid.

The website is an ordinary shop. If you buy something we hold your name, email, billing details and order history, because we have to.

Everything below is the detail.

1. Who we are

Fletcher Digital Ltd, 16 Melville Street, Suite 8, Falkirk FK1 1HZ, is the data controller for this site and for Command3D.

2. The Command3D application

This is the part worth reading carefully, because it is unusual.

What never leaves your computer

Command3D builds an index of your 3D files so it can search them. That index — every filename, folder name, file size, tag and note — is stored only on your own machine. It is never uploaded, never backed up by us, and we have no way to see it. We do not know what models you own, what you search for, or how often you use the software.

There are no analytics, no crash reporting, no usage tracking and no telemetry of any kind in the application.

What does leave your computer

One thing: a licence check. When you activate Command3D, and roughly once a week afterwards, it contacts command3d.com and sends:

your licence key
an anonymous fingerprint of your machine — a one-way hash derived from a Windows installation identifier. It cannot be reversed to identify your computer, and it contains no name, serial number or hardware detail. Its only purpose is to recognise the same machine again, so we can count activations against your three-machine limit.

We store that fingerprint against your licence, along with the date it was last seen. Because it is linked to your order, we treat it as personal data and it is covered by all the rights in section 8.

If your computer is offline the check simply does not happen, and the software carries on working.

3. When you buy a licence

To sell you something we collect and keep:

your name and email address
your billing address, where required for tax
the order details — what you bought, when, and for how much
the licence key issued to you, and which machines it is activated on

Lawful basis: performance of a contract, since we cannot sell you a licence without this, and legal obligation for the parts we must retain for tax.

We never see or store your card details. Payment is handled by Stripe, who process it under their own privacy policy.

4. When you contact us

If you email us or use the contact form, we hold your name, email address and whatever you write to us — for as long as it takes to help you, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back about the same thing.

Lawful basis: legitimate interests, namely answering someone who has asked us a question.

5. Cookies

This site sets only the cookies needed to make the shop work — a cart and a checkout session. They are essential to the site functioning and are not used for marketing.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

6. Who else handles your data

We use these processors, and only these:

Hetzner— running the website — Europe
Stripe— taking payment — UK
SendGrid — order and support email — Global

Each processes data on our instructions under their own agreements. We do not pass your details to anyone else.

7. How long we keep things

Order and billing records: six years, because tax law requires it.
Licence and activation records: while the licence exists, so we can support it and enforce the machine limit. Released machines are removed as soon as you release them.
Support emails: Actioned, kept for up to a year, then deleted.
The index Command3D builds: we never have it. Deleting the app removes it from your machine.

8. Your rights

You can ask us to:

show you what we hold about you
correct anything that is wrong
delete it, where we are not required to keep it for tax
give you a copy in a portable format
stop processing it, or object to us doing so

If you are not happy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk — though we would rather you told us first, so we can put it right.

9. Children

Command3D is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. Material changes affecting existing customers will be emailed, rather than quietly published.
